Our Verdict:

There will be a few people out there tempted to open accounts here on the back of being fans of the radio station(s) over the years. talkSPORT Radio is the biggest sports radio service in the world, if not the best, as well.

But as a Sportsbook, it has work to do. If you wanted a betting site that covers all the basics such as being particularly strong on football and racing, having Best Odds Guaranteed, competitive odds across the board and plenty of live betting, it will do the trick.

And where it really catches the eye is as regards the welcome offer. They have not one but two of them and they’re not only quite different in nature, but also pretty generous in both cases.

But as you’d expect from such a new site with less than a year’s experience under their belts, they still need to improve in a few areas.

Their live streaming is a bit basic right now and they could do with having more offers that give customers something back and keep them engaged.

And if those two things aren’t necessarily a quick fix, then extending their number of accepted payment methods is. Because at the moment, they just don’t have enough compared to other betting sites.

We’d also like to see them integrate the radio side of things a bit more with the betting site, including having more spoken and written content to bring their betting events to life.

Strengths

  • Choose from two completely different welcome offers.
  • Best Odds Guaranteed includes greyhound racing as well as horseracing.
  • Good for live streaming of UK and Ireland racing and eSports.
  • ‘No Horsing Around’ promo is generous, fair and imaginative.
  • Customers can listen to the radio broadcast/commentary of sister company talkSPORT Radio while betting on live events.

Weaknesses

  • Could do with having more ongoing promotions.
  • Need to offer more payment methods.
  • Don’t have live streaming of football or tennis, which is unusual.
  • Need to place a bet of at least £1 to watch non-UK horseracing and greyhound racing via live streaming.

Intro

They’re not the first company to make a name for themselves doing something outside betting and then deciding that it’s worth their while to make the most of brand awareness about them by having their own betting site. It’s a similar path to that taken by the likes of Virgin Bet, who had a fair few Virgin brands in things like airlines and media before adding a betting site to their portfolio of brands. But what talkSPORT were smart about was realising that there’s a lot more to running a successful Sportsbook than what meets the eye.

Even though its land-based businesses are still going strong, it’s in the online world that they’ve really kicked on with a website offering all the major betting products and the superb Ladbrokes’ betting app, available for both Android and iOS.

So rather than learning ‘on the job’ they entrusted their new betting site to those steady hands that are BetVictor. BV applied their vast experience here, including learnings from their own successful site, to achieve plenty in the year or so since they launched talkSPORT Bet. Like the radio stations, talkSPORT BET is owned by Wireless Group; the betting site operates under the UK Gambling Commission License since it was launched in 2022.

talkSport Sign Up offer

Just about any Sportsbook worth its salt has a welcome offer. What almost no Sportsbook has though, is two welcome offers. Well, talkSPORT BET does so that’s certainly one way they’ve looked to distance themselves from the crowd.

Here are the two completely separate talkSPORT BET sign-up offers you can claim.

However, new customers should be aware that they can’t claim both of them; it’s either one, or the other. So, it’s up to you to decide which you prefer.

talkSport Sign-up Offer 1: Bet £20, get £20

One of the simpler welcome offers you’ll see around. Place a first bet for exactly £20 on any sports market at odds of 2.0 or greater and you’ll get 2x £10 free bets, to use on any sport.

The two free bets are credited separately but each one can be broken down into as many smaller bets as you wish.

Notable terms and conditions:

  • Both the qualifying bet and the free bets must be placed at odds of 2.0 or greater.
  • Only deposits made with a debit card are eligible for the welcome offer.
  • The first £10 free bet is credited as soon as the qualifying bet is settled; the second will be given to you 24 hours after the first.
  • Only profits from the free bets are paid out, not the value of the stake.

How to claim your welcome bonus

  • Open an account and opt into the promo via the OFFERS tab.
  • Make a deposit for at least £20 using a debit card.
  • Place your first bet for £20 at odds of at least 2.0 within 7 days of opening your account.
  • Your first £10 free bet will be credited as soon as your qualifying bet is settled, your second will be credited 24 hours later.
  • Use your free bets within 7 days of being awarded them on any sport (not virtual sports) as long as they’re at odds of 2.0 or greater.

talkSport Sign-up Offer 2: Get £30 in free bets when you bet £10

The alternative is to place a £10 qualifying bet and receive £30 in free bets, spread across three different types of bets.

Like we say, it really is up to you as to which offer suits you best. But remember that you can only claim one of them, so choose carefully!

Notable Terms and Conditions

  • The deposit must be made using a debit card.
  • The £10 qualifying bet must be placed at odds of 2.0 or greater within 7 days of registration.
  • All free bets must be placed at odds of 2.0 or greater. Free bets can be split into several smaller bets.

What you need to do:

  • Open an account, deposit with a debit card and opt into the promo via the Offers tab.
  • Place a qualifying bet of at least £10 at odds of at least 2.0 on any sports event you like.
  • The following free bets will be awarded to you:
    • £10 free bet – Football Bet Builder
    • £10 free bet – Football Correct Score
    • £10 free bet – Any Sports Acca (5+ selections)

Use all the free bets within 7 days of being awarded them and note you can’t use them on virtual sports.

talkSport Ongoing Promotions

The talkSPORT Bet promotions page has some interesting offers which you’d be well-advised to check from time to time to see if there’s anything new, that’s worth grabbing. But here are some you can take advantage of right now.

No Horsing around

It’s one thing your horse not racing particularly well due to a lack of pace, not jumping nicely or just being beaten by a better horse. But what you really don’t want is for it to be out of contention before the race has got underway.

The definition of the above is as follows:

“…on British and Irish racing on horses who fail to give punters A Run for Their Money and refuse or whip around at the start, fail to come out or lose all chance at the stalls.”

So, any horse you backed who doesn’t get to the stalls at all or doesn’t start the race properly entitles you to a refund. It’s a little bit at the discretion of talkSPORT Bet as to when that’s the case, but we’re pretty sure that in most cases it’s obvious as to when they’ll refund you.

Best Odds Guaranteed

This is a pretty standard offer that most betting sites are happy to have these days, across all UK and Ireland horseraces on bets placed after 9am on the day of the race.

If you don’t know the drill by now, here it is: the betting site will guarantee that if your bet is a winner, you’ll either be paid out at the odds available when you placed the bet, or the Starting Price at which it went off at. Whichever is bigger (read more and see top bookies for BOG). Better still, the promo here at talkSPORT Bet applies to all UK and Irish greyhound racing, as well.

Other sports

So those are the most popular sports here at talkSPORT Bet in terms of what to look out for. But here are a few of their other sports that we found they covered particularly well.

Entertainment

Ok, entertainment obviously isn’t a sport as such, but the UK market has always enjoyed placing bets on events from the world of entertainment. It’s a cultural thing. Eurovision has plenty of markets to bet on, while you can also place wagers on the ever-popular Sports Personality of the Year Award and Britain’s Got Talent, among others.

Darts

Increased sponsorship and prize money over the last few years has led to greater TV coverage and general interest in the quirky sport of darts.

And so, its popularity has increased in terms of betting, as well. Here you have lots of markets to play, including from lesser tournaments that other bookies might not necessarily offer.

The live betting product is good too, with markets opened quickly after being temporarily suspended.

Betting Odds

So how are the talkSPORT Bet betting odds?

They’re decent enough. As we tend to say, there isn’t generally much difference between most of the UK’s best-known betting sites when it comes to the odds on the biggest markets and that’s the case with them. The important thing is they’re not any worse than most of the others while certain Bet Boosts mean you can sometimes get better prices than at other sites that way.

Betting Features

Now is the time in this talkSPORT Bet betting review where we look at the features they have that add a little extra excitement, practicality or just improve the overall customer experience.

Live on talkSPORT

In this regard, talkSPORT Bet are unique. It’s worth remembering they were the biggest sports radio service in the world long before they became a betting company, and they certainly haven’t slowed down when it comes to their flagship product. All of which means that if you can’t be in front of the TV or your laptop to watch a big event, or just prefer radio anyway, you can certainly listen to the live commentary on one of their radio stations.

The Live on talkSPORT section of the (betting) site tells you which big betting events will have radio commentary on them over the next couple of days to improve your enjoyment of following and betting on that event.

Livestreaming

A few other betting sites like Ladbrokes or Bet365 certainly have more streaming than talkSPORT BET and across a greater variety of sports. But they have plenty of streaming of eSports matches here, and they stream all UK and Ireland horse races.

You can watch those for free as long as you have a balance in your account and the likes of South African and French racing as well, as long as you place a bet of at least £1 on it. The same goes for all greyhound racing as well; you just need to place any bet for £1 or more to watch the race. So, you’re covered for both types of racing, but it would be good if they added the likes of tennis and football to their streaming offering in the future, as well.

Mobile App

The talkSPORT Bet betting app is available on both Android and iOS. That said, customers can choose to just use the mobile web browser as well, if they prefer. For more info on downloading betting apps, visit our mobile betting app page.

Their app is probably above average for a betting app, being easy-to-download, easy to use and being clear in terms of where to find everything.

Customer Support

Like lots of other sites, talkSPORT Bet have cottoned on to the fact that a good Help Centre is going to save them plenty of time and effort in the long run.

So, the Centre has a load of articles on the individual betting rules of loads of sports, explanations of how offers like Bet Boosts work, guides to Cashing Out, rules regarding the placement and settling of bets and lots of other topics that are of interest to customers.

And this in addition to a comprehensive set of FAQs including such topics as: payments, promotions, safer gambling, verification and legal topics. In other words, you should find that most of your queries are solved this way, without the need to contact an actual agent.

But if you do still need to contact one, you can do via Live Chat, e-mail (support@talksportbet.com ) or by sending a message on Facebook or a Tweet on Twitter. They don’t currently have a phone service available.

Deposit/Withdrawal Options

Availability of payment methods is unfortunately, one of their ‘must do better’ areas of the business. At the moment deposits are limited to just debit cards and bank transfers and you can’t use PayPal, Skrill or any of those other popular e-wallets here, whether for deposits or withdrawals.

They do admittedly have the VISA Direct Fastfunds service, meaning you can withdraw and have the cash in your account within 30 minutes, if your bank offers it. But they’re well-advised to accept more payment methods in future to keep customers happy and keep up to date with their competitors, who in most cases, have plenty more.
