Bottom Line

Despite being arguably better known as a retail bookmaker across the UK and Ireland than an online one, BoyleSports have done a good job of making their presence felt on the internet, as well.

Our Verdict:

There are lots of sports to bet on, which includes the Irish ones like the two types of GAA. That of course isn’t surprising seeing as Ireland is alongside the UK, one of their two biggest markets.

A lot of work has clearly gone into their Big 2 of horseracing and football as they have superb pre-match/race and in-play betting markets, decent odds for them, and extra features available when betting on them; additionally most of their money-back offers, free bets and Price Boosts are related to those two sports.

Still, they could develop their Cash Out product a bit further, extend live streaming to a few more sports and make their Welcome Offer a bit simpler, or offering better value. They could also give their website a slightly cleaner, more modern and less cluttered look.

But they’re a good site offering a fine all-round experience that just needs a couple of minor tweaks in order to join the elite.

  • Lots of sports offered including a good offering of GAA (Football/Hurling) ones.
  • Good range of horseracing offers.
  • Useful features like a decent blog, results service and pre-game stats.
  • Virtual sports including three types of horseracing, football and greyhounds.
  • Excellent FAQs section that solves most queries.
  • Lots of daily Price Boosts.

  • Site can look a little cluttered.
  • Welcome offer is unnecessarily complicated.
  • Bet Builders limited to football.

Founded by John Boyle way back in 1982, he gradually built his empire of Irish-based betting shops to the extent that there are more of those in EIRE than of any other bookie, including Paddy Power.

He later expanded into the UK, buying out shops in the Midlands and Manchester in particular, bringing the number of UK ones up to 44, and Irish-based ones close to 350.

In the meanwhile, their online operations are run from Gibraltar and their website has been the sponsor of the likes of Birmingham City FC, Sunderland FC and more recently, Coventry FC in the world of English football.
They’ve also sponsored major races in Irish horseracing and greyhound racing and worked with brand ambassadors such as horseracing trainer Gordon Elliott, and former footballers Kevin Kilbane and Stan Collymore.

BoyleSports Sign Up offer

Let’s get this Boyle Sports review underway by looking at the Boyle Sports sign-up offer.

At Boylesports you start life out with a £25 bet bundle. That’s pretty much a middle-of-the-road welcome offer compared to the rest of the market, with some competitors going a little bigger, and others not so much.

It is however not the most straightforward offer to claim so make sure you know what you need to do in order to get it.

Notable Terms and Conditions

  • Your qualifying bet of £10 must be placed at odds of at least 2.0, whether as a single or as a multiple.
  • The qualifying bet must be placed within 30 days of opening your account.
  • Deposits made with Skrill, Moneybookers, Neteller, PayPal or credit cards will not be eligible for the welcome offer.
  • Only winnings from the free sports bet are paid out, not the stake itself.
  • The first £5 sports free bet must be used within 7 days of being awarded.

How to claim your welcome bonus

  • Open an account and make a deposit for at least £10, remembering which payment methods to avoid (see above) in order to be eligible for the bonus.
  • Place a £10 qualifying bet at odds of 2.0 or higher; this can be as a single or as a multiple.
  • Your first £5 free bet will be awarded as soon as your qualifying bet is settled.
  • After the initial £5 free bet, you will receive a matched free bet equal to a 50% average of your next 3 qualifying bets in settlement, up to a maximum of £5.
  • Repeat the process (up to four times) and you’ll be credited with free bets up to £5 for every three bets placed. So that’s a maximum of £20 in free bets, in addition to the first credited £5 free bet.

BoyleSports Ongoing Promotions

The Boylesports promotions page is generally pretty lively, which is another way of saying that there are plenty of ongoing offers you can claim at any given time, across numerous sports.

Horseracing Money Back if 2nd to SP Favourite

Your horse finishing second to the SP (Starting Price) favourite happens a lot more often than you’d like it to. But if your selection isn’t going to win, the next best-case scenario is just that: that it finishes second to the SP favourite.

When that happens on selected races with 5 or more runners, you can get your stake back as a free bet, up to £20.

Customers should be aware this only applies to your first bet placed on these selected races.

Greyhound racing Money Back if 2nd to SP Favourite

Works exactly the same way as the promo above and applies to selected meetings but in this case, on greyhound racing, rather than horseracing.

See other Greyhound betting offers

Acca Loyalty

Place five accas on any combination of sports, that contains at least 5 legs, at odds of at least 4.0, for a minimum bet of £5 per acca.

Each time your qualifying bet is settled you’ll be awarded an Acca Loyalty Stamp. Once you have five of them, you’ll receive a £5 free bet to use as an acca, which must be used within 7 days.

Please note only the first qualifying bet of the day counts; meaning you’ll need to place qualifying bets across five different days.

Acca Rewards- Boost or Insure

Placing accas of 5 or more legs, with each selection at odds of 1.2 or greater, gives you the choice as to what you want to do next.

Your first choice is to boost it.

If it goes on to win, you’ll get a 10% boost on payouts on accas made up of 5 selections, 20% on accas of 6 selections and so on, up to a maximum of an 80% boost if you have 12 (or more) selections on your winning acca.

Your other choice is to insure it. If your 5-fold acca only has one selection in it that lets you down, you’ll get your stake refunded, up to a maximum of £20.

Other sports

So those are the most popular ones here at Boylesports and their best features. But here are a few other sports they do particularly well and some positive points about them.

Gaelic Games

We mentioned above they were good at sports that were popular in Ireland, and this is a case in point.

GAA Football and GAA Hurling betting markets are offered almost all year round across the top competitions and also at Under 20 level.

In addition to the main markets, there are also outright prices and Price Boosts on these sports, too.

With Ireland being the most successful country ever when it comes to Eurovision, with seven wins, it’s no surprise that betting on the famous continental music event is so popular in Ireland.

And Boylesports’ offering reflects that every year in the spring. In addition to the outright winner, a country’s finishing position, straight forecast, the top entry from different European regions and which singer a particular country will award maximum points to, there’s even more.

That includes requesting your own bets via Invent-a-Bet and Price Boosts. Eurovision is only once a year but here at Boylesports they certainly make a big deal out of it.

BoyleSports Betting Odds

So how are the Boylesports betting odds?

They’re pretty fair. We compared them to their main competitors across different markets in different sports and found them to be pretty much bang in the middle.

That said, because they offer so many Price Boosts, more than most, you can often secure bigger odds with them than at other sites that way.

Betting Features

Now is the time in this Boylesports betting review where we consider the special features that bring something extra to the table beyond the obvious. Here are some to look out for.

Results service

Not sure who ended up winning the race/match/tournament you placed a bet on the previous day/week?

You can of course check up on that somewhere online. Or you could just head to the Boylesports Results service where using the filters of Sport/Category/Event, you can find out who won what over the past few days. Especially good for sports like horseracing, greyhounds or tennis of which there’s so much of every day.

What would be even better was if in the future they also displayed the average pre-match/pre-race odds of the eventual winner. At the moment they just list the SP of winners in horseracing.

Let’s wait and see.

Cash Out Betting

Cash Out betting at Boylesports extends to plenty of sports beyond just football. It’s also available on tennis, GAA, snooker, darts, rugby, cricket, golf, basketball and baseball.

The Cash Out feature is rarely suspended for long, and the offers tend to be pretty decent.

Customers should be aware that if they choose to Cash Out bets that are part of bonuses/promotions, they may forfeit any free bets or refunds they might otherwise be due.

Live Streaming

There may not be quite as many live-streamed events here as say Bet365 or Betfair; but there are more than enough.

That includes all UK and Irish horseracing and greyhound racing, lots of tennis, some football and also eSports matches. Just log into your account in order to watch.

Best Odds Guaranteed

Like most of the betting sites in the UK, Boylesports have Best Odds Guaranteed on UK and Ireland horseracing.

That means you get two bites of the cherry at which odds you get paid out at if your selection wins: the odds at which you placed the bet, or the Starting Price. Whichever is highest.

Mobile App

The Boylesports betting app is available on both Android and iOS.

For more info on downloading betting apps, visit our mobile betting app page.

They’ve obviously appreciated the importance of a good betting app because it’s just as good on both systems, is easy to download, quick to use and gives you just the same experience as what you’d get on your laptop, if not better.

In some cases, there are stats to digest and offers to take up that are only available on the app.

Customer Support

Another thing they’ve realised is that coming up with a long list of FAQs, all well thought out and with the answers well-explained, is going to save them plenty of time and effort.

They’ve gone considerably further than most in coming up with a long, long list of FAQs covering just about everything, including: deposit and withdrawal options, why KYC is necessary, restricted countries, wagering requirements, closing your account, making complaints, withdrawal times, specific rules relating to particular betting markets and much, much more.

So good and exhaustive are their FAQs that most of your questions can be answered this way.

But on the off chance that isn’t the case, you have the option of getting in touch with their Customer Service Team.

E-mail them at, or phone them at 1800 22 00 66 (Ireland) or 0800 22 00 66 (UK).

Alternatively, just open up Live Chat and solve your problem that way.

Deposit/Withdrawal Options

As you’d expect from a big betting site that’s been in the business for a long time, there are plenty of payment methods available to get your money in and out of your Boylesports account.

Here’s the list, minimum amounts to deposit and withdraw, and the processing times.

As you can see, there’s a good mix across cards, e-wallets and other methods, so all customers should find something that suits them.

BoyleSports in the Media

Boylesports up for sale?

Boylesports is viewed as an ‘attractive acquisition target’ by ‘market sources, says the Irish Independent, who also suggests Boylesports may be ‘in a sales process’ and open to be taking over by a larger betting company, or group of them.

The whispers are that makes Entain PLC, owner of Ladbrokes, Party Poker and Sportingbet, the most likely candidate as they look to shake things up in terms of getting a stronger foothold in Ireland, where Boysleports is considerably behind rival Paddy Power in terms of online customers.

Paddy Power are in turn owned by Flutter Entertainment, who also have Betfair in their portfolio.

The news comes as Boylesports looks for its next CEO after Mark Kemp departed to go to Dazn Bet and as they await an update on the Gambling Regulation Bill, which will change Irish Gambling Laws and marketplace rules for the first time since 1926.

Boylesports buy nine Manchester betting shops

Boylesports have increased their number of brick-and-mortar betting shops in Britain to 44, after purchasing nine shops from independent chain Lewis Bookmakers.

All shops are in the Manchester area. Boylesports is the largest in Ireland when it comes to land-based betting shops with 334.
