Our Verdict:

It’s not always easy to make the transition from being a big player in casinos to doing the same in sports betting, but in the seven years or so of having a sportsbook, they’ve certainly made a good fist of it. Kudos to them first up for having a welcome offer that’s totally different to everything else that’s out there with their double-your-odds sign-up promo. And they’ve followed that up with some good ongoing promos, as well.

Granted that the ‘Cashback if our horse finishes second to the SP favourite’ and Best Odds Guaranteed are also available at a few other sites, but so what? The chance to get free bets every week when wagering a certain amount is another decent offer. We also like the wide range of sports they offer that go well beyond the traditional English ones and the Sportradar stats that accompany them, while their blog has some decent content, as well.

But no Sportsbook is perfect and there are some areas they can improve in. More live streaming, more payment options, and making Bet Builders available would be a good starting point. If we’re really being picky, though their site has a very modern look and feel to it, It can look a little cluttered and maybe a change of font would improve matters.

  • Imaginative and generous welcome offer
  • Good ongoing promos offering decent value
  • Informative FAQs/strong Customer Service
  • Lots of sports including some pretty unusual ones
  • Grosvenor One VIP Programme offers some good additional rewards
  • Blog has some entertaining content
  • Sportradar stats available on most sports are extremely useful

  • Live streaming limited to just horseracing and greyhounds
  • No Bet Builders
  • Limited payment options
  • Don’t promote responsible gambling as much as other sites

Long before they were a sports betting operation, Grosvenor were ruling the roost of land-based casinos, and these days still own over 50 across the UK. Like many other casinos (land and online) they saw an opportunity in sports betting and have had a sportsbook since 2016.

Grosvenor Sports is currently owned by The Rank Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. It holds the UK Gambling Commission License and uses the well-known betting product and services provider Kambi to run its Sportsbook, including setting the odds and deciding on which sports and markets to offer. Just like its land and online casinos, the Grosvenor Sports site boasts the brand’s distinctive purple and white colours.

Grosvenor Sign Up offer

Let’s get this Grosvenor sports review underway by looking at the Grosvenor sign-up offer.

The sign-up offer

In a market where too many sports betting companies tend to go down exactly the same route when it comes to a lot of things, including welcome offers, it’s certainly extremely refreshing to see one bookie going against the grain. So rather than the usual sign-up offer of free bets or a bonus on your first deposit, here they’ll double the odds on your first-ever bet. By doing so, you could argue that they’re giving greater power to the customer. In addition to that, the potential for a big payout on your first-ever bet struck is there, not to mention it’s a lot more fun than the usual free bet offers.

Notable terms and conditions

  • Maximum stake at which odds are doubled is £10. Can also be a £5 each-way bet.
  • The Odds Boost Token must be used when placing your bet.
  • You need to use your Odds Boost Token within 60 days of registration.
  • Extra winnings are paid in cash with no wagering requirements.

How to claim your welcome bonus?

  • Open an account at Grosvenor Sports.
  • Your 100% Boost Odds Token will be credited to you straight away.
  • Make a deposit.
  • Place a bet up to a value of £10. (or £5 each/way).
  • Select your Double the Odds token when placing the bet.
  • The extra winnings will be paid to you in cash if the bet goes on to win.

How to register an account?

  • Click on the Join button at the top right-hand side of the homepage.

Grosvenor Ongoing Promotions

There are some decent Grosvenor sports promotions on an ongoing basis, giving loyal customers something back. Promotions shouldn’t be seen as the be-all-and-end-all of sportsbooks because they’re just one of many important factors that should be considered when choosing where next to open an account at.

But they’re certainly one of the more eye-catching elements of a betting site and just how good they are could be the difference between customers sticking around or going elsewhere. Here are some of the better ones here at Grosvenor.

Cash Back if 2nd to the favourite

A few sites are currently offering this one but that doesn’t make it any less valuable. If the horse you backed finishes second to the Starting Price favourite, you can get refunded on your bet up to £20. But customers should be aware that it only applies to their first bet on that race. So, if your first bet was on 6.0 chance Blue River and it finished second to SP favourite Apple Pie, you’d be refunded.

But if your first bet was on Blue River and then you placed another bet on 12.0 chance California Sun, who went on to finish second to Apple Pie, you wouldn’t be refunded as that wasn’t your first bet on the market. Every day Grosvenor will choose a race meeting where the offer applies and all races at that meeting will be eligible for the cash back offer.

NBA In-play Cash Back losses

Fans of betting on US hoops can get 10% of any losses back as cashback when betting on the world’s top basketball league, the NBA. Only bets placed in-play are eligible, they need to be at odds of 1.5 or greater and you must have incurred losses of at least £1 on at least 10% of your losing bets.

The maximum you can get refunded is £100 and the cash back will be paid to you before midnight on Tuesday relating to losses from the previous week: Monday to Sunday night. Customers need to go to the Opt In page for NBA In-Play losses, accessible from the Grosvenor promo page, in order to take part.

Grosvenor Sports Club

Being a member of the club is ‘as easy as 1, 2 and 3’ as the song used to go. You just need to place £25 worth of sports bets between Monday morning and Sunday night at odds of at least 1.5. It doesn’t matter whether the bets win or lose, you’ll get your £5 sports bet paid to you either way.

Once credited to you, you have 7 days to use the Free Bet Token for £5, which can be used on any sport. Just be aware that the token must be used in its entirety; in other words, you need to place it as one £5 bet rather than splitting it into several ones.

Grosvenor Betting Markets and Bet Types

Grosvenor sports betting is available across 40 different sports, making it extremely competitive when it comes to the range of sports you can bet on, compared to the biggest sites out there. That includes all the obvious ones but also considerably less obvious ones such as rowing, pesapallo, field hockey and lacrosse.

Let’s start off by taking a look at their mainstream sports and what you can look forward to when betting on them.

Sport Good features
  • View all the different leagues on one user-friendly page.
  • Offer betting on lower leagues including Finnish Third Division, Swedish fourth division and unlikely leagues like Ethiopian football.
  • Betting on Youth football and Women’s football.
  • Almost 500 different betting markets ahead of the biggest games.
  • Good supply of useful stats with more info than other sites such as head-to-head records, top scorers, recent results, information about stadiums where the games are played. Stats supplied by Sportradar (external site accessed via Grosvenor).
  • Lots of stats-based betting markets.
  • Close to 70 pre-match betting markets on big games.
  • Slightly unusual markets such as whether there will be an Ace in the next game.
  • Betting on tournaments several levels below the main ones.
  • Racing from all over the world including USA, South Africa, France, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Race markets display the price fluctuations of the different horses.
  • Best Odds Guaranteed available.

Other sports

So those are the most popular sports here at Grosvenor to bet on and a few of the special features available on them. But let’s look at a few others.

  • Trotting

The sport of trotting will probably be considerably down on the list of priorities when it comes to what UK-based punters want to bet on. Hardly surprising given not many people will even know what it is! If that includes you, it’s a type of horseracing that resembles what they were competing at in the movie Ben Hur all those years ago. So jockeys riding in what are basically horse-drawn chariots. It’s particularly popular in Sweden, though a few other countries embrace it as well.

The point about Grosvenor having it isn’t that everyone will be desperate to bet on it but rather that they offer unusual sports with cult followings, in addition to the biggest ones.

  • eSports

Who would have thought that there would be a time in the future when people would be betting hundreds of thousands of pounds on pro gamers playing video games against each other? Well, that’s not so much the future now as the present and eSports betting is big business.

Here at Grosvenor, you can bet on the likes of Dota 2, League of Legends, CS: Go, Call of Duty, Valorant and Rainbow 6. Though there are some great (external) stats, but unlike many other betting sites, they don’t stream the matches.

Grosvenor Betting Odds

So how are the Grosvenor betting odds?

As we like to say, the proof is in the pudding. So, let’s take a look at two completely separate big betting events and look at the over-round (house edge) on each of them to see how fair the odds are. Here’s what the odds were ahead of Manchester City v Inter Milan in the 2023 Champions League final:

Man City- 4/9

Draw- 18/5

Inter- 6/1

House edge: 5.28%

And here’s what they were ahead of the big England v Australia 1st Test in the Ashes, in Test cricket.

England- 5/4

Draw- 9/2

Australia- 13/10

House edge: 6.1%

So, in both cases, that’s a house edge of around the 5%-6% which is pretty decent indeed.

A glance at a range of other betting markets across different sports suggests that’s pretty much the norm for all markets and that will do us just fine. A couple of other big betting sites may have slightly better odds, but plenty more have worse ones.

Grosvenor Betting Features

Now is the time in this Grosvenor betting review where we look at the features, they have that customers can look forward to and provide just that little bit extra in terms of enjoyment.

Sportradar stats

Sportradar are one of the best-known providers of betting-related sports stats in the world. You can find some of their best top-line stats for a number of sports with football ones probably the pick of them.

You can of course find other specialised sites for this sort of stuff but the fact it’s just one click away from this site just makes it that much easier for customers.

Live Streaming

They don’t cover football, tennis and basketball like other sites do in live streaming but they’re good for UK and Ireland horseracing. You just need to have money in your account to watch the races from the likes of Cheltenham, Ascot and Goodwood or to have placed a bet on any sport in the previous 24 hours.

To watch international racing from the likes of South Africa and Australia you just need to place a bet on it for £1 (or 50p each-way). It’s exactly the same for greyhound racing.

Mobile App

The Grosvenor sports betting app is available on both Android and iOS. Customers can view markets, make deposits and withdrawals, place bets and take advantage of promos on it or of their prefer, they can also do so on the browser of their mobile.

For more info on downloading betting apps, visit our mobile betting apps page. Clicking on the ‘mobile’ section of the Grosvenor site and clicking on the Android/iOS logos will also take you to a page explaining how to download them. It’s a good app, looking and working very similar to the desktop version and is both fast and intuitive.

Customer Support

The first place to go for any queries should always be the FAQs section. Once you’re there, there are three ways to access the question (and answer) you’re after. The first is to have a look at their Most Asked (Frequently Asked) Questions. In other words, the most frequently, frequently asked questions! There are five of those. The second is to check the five different categories of questions (Account/Feedback/Keep it Fun/Promotion/Technical) and choose the most relevant one within that. The third is to type your question into the search box.

If that doesn’t work, you can get in touch via e-mail ( or Live Chat. Live Chat is generally the recommended method because you can solve things in real time rather than the slight delay you get with e-mail. There’s also a phone service available. They’re a good betting site and you shouldn’t have too many problems here.

But if you do, it’s nice of them to have explained the full complaints process in terms of how it works, who to contact, how long each stage takes and so on. You can find a link to the Complaints Process at the bottom of the homepage under Help and Advice.

Deposit/Withdrawal Options

There are some good payment options available but it’s also true that some betting companies have even more so maybe they could do with adding a couple of extra ones, such as VISA FastFunds. Most of the time you can withdraw using the same method as you used to deposit but where that’s not possible, you’ll need to request a withdrawal via a bank transfer.

In all cases, Grosvenor themselves don’t charge any fees on withdrawals but they do warn you that some of the payment methods themselves might. You’ll never be charged when making a deposit with their available methods.

Withdrawals can take up to three business days (and a couple more if the withdrawal request was made just before the weekend) but in some cases you may have your money in a couple of days. If you want a quicker option, use PayPal, which should see you have your money in your account within 24 hours.

Welcome Offer featured in The Sun during Cheltenham

Grosvenor Sports’ double-your-odds welcome offer was featured in The Sun no less, ahead of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival. The UK’s favourite newspaper highlighted the offer and the fact that new customers could use the sign-up promo to get twice the usual odds when betting on any race during the Cheltenham Festival, although of course the bet can be placed on anything you like.

Whereas the 2023 Cheltenham Festival may be over, Grosvenor’s welcome offer certainly isn’t, and new customers can still take advantage of it.
