Liverpool are the tournament favourites to win the Europa League and as they welcome Toulouse, they should make easy work of their French opponents.
The Europa League isn’t the European competition Liverpool want to be in but they finished outside the Champions League spots, so have to look to win this trophy to guarantee Champions League football next year, albeit their League form may also be enough.
Liverpool ran out easy 2-0 winners last time our in the Europa League against Royal Union SG, with a goal at the end of both halves and the later being from fit again Diogo Jota. Prior to that Liverpool won 3-1 against LASK to top their group in style.
It’s likely Jurgen Klopp will rest his top starts and give fringe players a run out, but with the class of Liverpool’s squad, this should not be a problem at all as Liverpool have shown thus far in the competition.
Jota may well get a start and he is proving to be a super signing for Liverpool as he knows exactly where the net is when given half a chance.
Other players who may well start include Elliott, Endo and Gravenberch, who scored the opening goal in the home game against Royal Union SG.
Toulouse have made an unbeaten start to their Europa League campaign with a 1-0 home win over LASK and then a 1-1 draw away at Royal Union SG. A trip to Anfield is a little different to those games and the step up in quality will be very evident as they face the Kop in full voice.
The French outfit will look to keep it tight and not be too forthcoming with pushing men forward, so this will suit the quick play of Liverpool, who will look to express themselves from the off and make it difficult for the opposition.
With huge experience in European competitions, Liverpool are therefore massive favourites to win the game and it’s then looking for one of the alternative markets, to secure a value bet at odds against.
