Luton Town play their first ever Premier League game at home on Friday night and the capacity crowd will be in full voice to see this momentous occasion. It wasn’t that many years ago that Luton Town were in the National League and now at Kenilworth Road, they are hosting West Ham United in the Premier League.
Rob Edwards’ side have been defeated in both their away games so far in the Premier League. On the opening day they went down 4-1 away to Brighton Hove Albion and then last Friday, they faced Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and lost 3-0.
The newly promoted side must improve defensively to compete in the Premier League as they welcome West Ham this Friday who are hugely confident with Antonio and Bowed in excellent form and new signing James Ward Prowse starting his West Ham career well.
West Ham lost Declan Rice in the summer and questions were raised over the void he would leave, but they have been galvanized by their Europa Conference League win and carried on from where they left off.
West Ham opened the season with a 1-1 away at Bournemouth with Bowen on the score sheet. They then beat Chelsea 3-1 with Aguerd, Antonio and Paqueta getting the goals. The most impressive part of this win was the way James Ward Prowse settled into the team with two assists.
Then West Ham headed off to the AMEX and delivered a superb performance by beating Brighton 3-1 with Ward Prowse scoring his first goal for the Hammers. Bowen and Antonio added to their goal tally and this was a huge scalp for the London side as Brighton were favourites to win the game.
David Moyes is doing a magnificent job for West Ham and the positive way they are playing this season can bring them another three points on Friday night. With an XG of 2.40 from their game versus Brighton with 12 goal attempts and 7 on target can only bode well as the season progresses.
It’s another tall order for Luton Town who will do well to stop this Hammers side. But it’s the first Premier League game at Kenilworth Road and maybe something special can happen
