Europa League: Brighton v Marseille – Thursday 14th December 8pm Kick-off

Brighton host Marseille in the final Europa League group game and The Seagulls have enjoyed their first campaign in Europe.

Brighton and Marseille have both qualified for the knock-ouy stages and Brighton know a win tonight will mean they top the group and then get seeded in the next stage of the competition.

Benevento, Italy, December 03, 2017: Roberto De Zerbi the head coach of BENEVENTO during football match serie A League 2017/2018 between BENEVENTO vs MILAN at Vigorito stadium.

Roberto De Zerbi has transformed the style of football and Brighton have eliminated AEK and Ajax on their way to the knock out stages.

Joao Pedro scored the only goal in AEK last time out and he can be a threat to Marseille in the final group game. Brighton also have Mitoma back fit and he will play down the left hand side and be a constant threat for Brighton. Ferguson has been a revelation this season and is a key target for bigger clubs, but he will be another player Marseille will have to be concerned about.

Defensively Brighton have been superb in the competition only conceding 5 goals, and they will have their work cut out to keep it that way as Marseille have scored 14 goals in 5 games and are free scoring domestically in France and will fancy their chances of making this a very entertaining game.

With Brighton’s defence being on the money so far in the Europa League, offensively they have scored 9 goals and will be pushing for the win tonight as they are already qualified so have nothing to lose.

Marseille have former Arsenal striker Aubameyang up front and he is in great form and will enjoy his return to England and will look to add to his goal tally in this match

The two top scorers go head to head in Pedro and Aubameyang and with a very open game expected, it looks like both will have many chances to score in this game.

The story of Brighton could well lead to a documentary as they have risen to new heights this season in their first Europa League appearance, by qualifying in a group with European giants Ajax, but the Dutch outfit are struggling domestically and also in this competition.

Goals are on the menu in this one and the home side may just have enough to get the job done, but it will be a good watch.
