Borussia Dortmund secured a massive win away at Newcastle United in the Champions League and this gave them a massive lifeline in their hope of qualifying for the knock out stages.
Looking down and out after a home draw against Ac Milan and then a 2-0 away defeat, Dortmund headed to Newcastle United who were riding the crest of a wave after a 4-1 home Champions League win over PSG.
Newcastle United were favourites to win again in the Champions League, however, maybe a little bit of over confidence had got into the side as Dortmund defended superbly well and scored the all important goal to nick a 1-0 win.
This home tie now against Newcastle is massive and a win can move Dortmund onto 7 points in the group and on the verge of qualifying for the knock out stages.
One concern for Dortmund is they come into this match on the back of a 4-0 home defeat to title rivals Bayern Munich and Dortmund will have to brush themselves off as their opponents Newcastle United head into Germany on the back of a bruising encounter against title contenders Arsenal and a 1-0 win courtesy of Anthony Gordan, will give them confidence as they head east.
Sitting 4th in Bundesliga, Dortmund need to score more goals as their top goalscorer is Brandt with 4 goals and in previous years, Dortmund have been blessed with goals coming from all over the pitch.
Against Newcastle, who have a strong defence, Dortmund will have to take any chances they can get as Newcastle already went to AC Milan and took a point and they will look to defend well again in this one and hopefully deliver a smash and grab 1-0 win.
This promises to be a tight game with not many chances on offer as both teams are evenly matches and along with AC Milan, are all playing for 2nd place in the group as PSG are expected to secure top spot with their remaining games coming up.
So, a point here for Newcastle may seem a good result for them, while for Dortmund, making home advantage count, and with a fan base ready to get behind their side, a one goal win is what they will be hoping for.
It is likely not to be pretty, and with both teams coming off physical games on the weekend, it may take a touch of class to see a goal in this one.
