Liverpool v Arsenal – Full preview

Wind the time back to September 2nd 2013 and Arsenal went to Anfield and won 2-0 in the Premier League thanks to goals from Santi Cazorla and Lukaz Podolski. Since then it’s been a lot of misery for Arsenal at Anfield with some big defeats including a 5-1, plus two 4-0 wins for Liverpool.

Liverpool firmly hold the upper hand when it comes to facing Arsenal in the Premier League at Anfield and with Arsenal now fighting for the Premier League title with Manchester City, they need to put in a huge performance and maintain their title charge with a positive result.

Arsenal will never have a better chance to avenge the heavy defeats of late and put in a big display and get at least a point at Anfield this weekend. Arsenal faced Liverpool 4 times last season and didn’t manage a single goal, however in the Premier League at Emirates earlier this season Arsenal won 3-2 with goals from Saka (2) and Martinelli.

The north London side are having a memorable season so far, but they don’t want it to end up trophyless having performed so well until now. Saka, Martinelli are a continued threat to Premier League defences and with New signing Trossard impressive and Jesus back to full fitness, Arsenal are offensively strong.

This offensive power will put Liverpool’s defence under a lot of pressure and with conceding 5 to Real Madrid, Arsenal will take heart from this and will come into the game with confidence.

For Liverpool, they are coming into this on the back of a very tough week, having been away at Man City and Chelsea so far and with their top 4 hopes hanging in the balance, can’t afford for another defeat.

Arsenal come into this with a pretty much fully fit squad, although with doubts over Partey and Saliba, these two huge players are so important to the way Arsenal play and if either doesn’t make it, it could make all the difference.

Liverpool come into this match knowing they like playing Arsenal at home and Jota and Salah are regular scorers against Arsenal and will be looking to add to their tally.

This has the potential to be a Premier League classic and cast your mind back to 2009 when Liverpool drew 4-4 with Arsenal and Arshavin scored all 4 goals. This may not end up 4-4, but with so much attacking flair on show, it promises to be one to watch.
