This is it! The final part of the treble is on the table for Manchester City in the Champions League Final. Having caught Arsenal to win the Premier League in style with Haaland scoring over 35 goals and performing incredibly well, Manchester City then cruised through to the FA Cup Final and beat local rivals Manchester United 2-1 at Wembley on Saturday.
Saturday night in Istanbul will see Manchester City face Inter Milan for a place in history to emulate Manchester United and win the treble. Pep Guardiola’s side are the best in world football right now and have a way of playing that is impossible to stop.
In the Champions League Manchester City have done it the hard way by beating Bayern Munich and then Real Madrid to reach the final and in both ties, they showed their class to convincingly win when it mattered.
In the first leg at Etihad Stadium, Manchester City ran out 3-0 winners and the 2nd leg was a formality as Bayern didn’t lay a glove on them. The semi-final 2nd leg was one of the best performances of the season for Manchester City as they put on a show winning 4-0 against the reigning champions.
Inter Milan stand in the way of Manchester City’s juggernaut and you have to give credit to the Italians who have beaten arch rivals AC Milan in the semi-finals and before that Benfica and Porto. The Italians have showed their grit and determination throughout this seasons tournament and with match winners such as Lukaku, Dzeko and Martinez, they can cause defences problems and will look to out muscle Stones and Diez on Saturday night.
Manchester City will have to be at their best defensively and switched on as Inter Milan know they must be clinical in front of goal to have any chance of causing an upset. Inter will most likely give up a lot of possession, but on the counter attack, they can be dangerous and should they be able to go in front, we will have to see why Manchester City are thought of as the best in Europe and show this on the biggest stage of all.
For Manchester City, Haaland is the main threat, but Gundogen and Silva could be the ones to watch to make a big impact on the Champions League final.
