Premier League – Nottingham Forest v Sheffield United – Fri 18th August

Nottingham Forest gave a good enough performance against Arsenal to suggest they can compete well in the Premier League this season and not face a relegation scrap. In Anthony Elanga, Morgans Gibbs White and Danilo, they have a lot of talent going forward to cause defences problems.

Towards the end of last season Nottingham Forest secured their Premier League status by solid home performances and wins and they welcome newly promoted Sheffield United to The City Ground on Friday night where they are expected to gain all 3 points.

Under the lights, the home side must start on the front foot and gain early momentum to take control of the game. With their fast pace attackers, they can cause problems all over the field.

Sheffield United lost narrowly to Crystal Palace, but they do lack a proven striker at this level to survive in the division and this will ultimately cause them to struggle. They can be positive in this game and look to compete well and should Nottingham Forest show any complacency then the visitors may be in for some good news.

Crystal Palace scored the all important goal on Saturday to separate the two sides, but it was a tight contest and Sheffield United will look to keep it tight for as long as possible and defend well, not to give Nottingham Forest chances.

Matt Turner performed well in goal for Nottingham Forest on his debut after moving from Arsenal and he can be a strong asset for the home side on Friday night as he looks to cement his position as the number 1.

Sheffield United must look to have more ambition going forward as with only 1 shot on goal v Crystal Palace and therefore an expected goals of .39, the away side must look to create more chances, otherwise it could be a very long night for The Blades.

Brennan Johnson didn’t have the impact he usually does on the game against Arsenal, but that isn’t surprising given he was coming up against William Saliba. However on Friday night, he will believe he can cause Sheffield United a lot of problems and look to get on the score sheet.
Overall, it will be important for the home side to collect 3 points, whereas for the visitors, they must hope the home side take them for granted and The Blades can collect a point or even a win.
