EFL Championship – To Make the Top 6 – Starts Friday 4th Aug

The EFL Championship gets underway in a few weeks time and we’re looking at the ante-post markets as teams prepare for the new season.

One market to look at is ‘To Make the Top6 and it’s no surprise that the three relegated clubs from The Premier League are at the top of the market.

Surprise relegated team Leicester City have appointed Enzo Maresca to steer the Foxes back to the Premier League at the first attempt and his CV is very promising for ensuring a swift return to the top flight. With a passionate crowd and a strong squad, Leicester City should have no problem in securing a top6 position, albeit they will be looking for a Top2 position and automatic promotion.

Jamie Vardy is set to stay and his experience can help The Foxes get a good start next season and with Ihneacho and Daka also set to remain, this fire power will be a huge asset in the 46 match campaign. All three players have plenty of quality to enjoy facing Championship defenders. Young talent Dewsbury-Hall is set for a massive season as he can shine in this division.

Next up are Leeds United who have appointed former Norwich Head Coach Daniel Farke. Farke knows the division and steered Norwich to the Premier League a few years ago, so he will be looking at this Leeds squad and ensuring he gets a tune out of them early on to build a good season.

Like Leicester, Leeds United home crowd can lift their side as they face lesser quality than the Premier League. With a lot of pace and energy, they can enjoy a good season and a Top 6 place.

Southampton are a team in transition and they have some good young talent to embed into the Championship. James Ward Prowse is a player in demand and he may move on, so leaving a lack of leaders in their side.

Next up are Middlesbrough with Michael Carrick at the helm. They had a good season finishing 4th in the Championship with 75 points and 22 wins from 46 games. Benik Afobe was top goaslcorer and it’s important they keep him, but Carrick is an impressive Manager and can once again steer the side to a play-off spot.

At punters.pub we look for value, and Middlesbrough at 5/4 to make the Top6 in the Championship next season 23/24 with PaddyPower is our best bet in this market.

Head Coach Michael Carrick is well regarded and they just didn’t have enough in the play-offs to make the Final, but had a brilliant season, playing some great football.

At odds against, they can secure another Top6 place.
