Genesis Scottish Open Golf – Starts Thursday 13th July
Preparation is set for The Open starting 20th July and for the top Golfers in the World, they head up to Scotland to take part in the Scottish Open this week. All the big guns have decided to play in what is a very competitive field.
Depending on the weather conditions we could see low scores, however, should the wind pick up, then we will see all Golfers put to the test in their driver and iron play.
The world number 1 and ultra consistent American Scottie Scheffler is joint favourite at 7/1 with Irishman Rory Mcllroy. These two are set to go toe to toe this week for the Scottish Open and gain huge confidence for the next Major tournament.
Looking at form between Mcllroy and Scheffler at the top of the betting, it bodes to side with Scheffler as he has shown outstanding form this season, not only with a Masters win, but with the regular PGA Tour events, Scheffler has 30 Top 10 finishes from 106 starts which is a fantastic achievement.
Patrick Cantley is another American who is in good form and third favourite for the Scottish Open. Cantley finished tied 4th in Travellers Championship and tied 14th in US Open so in good form as he heads over to the UK for a couple of key weeks of Golf.
Keeping with the American assault on the Scottish Open and Xander Schauffele and Ricky Fowler are next in the betting and it’s no surprise as Schauffele finished 10th in the US Open and before that 2nd in Wells Fargo. He is in form and on his ‘A’ game should be competing at the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.
Ricky Fowler is back! Winner of Rocket Mortgage Classic on the PGA Tour a couple of weeks ago and it had been coming. Fowler is playing some great golf right now and slowly getting back to his best. Scoring -24 in his PGA Tour win, Fowler heads over to the UK in great form and his mojo back. Driving and Iron play has been excellent but the putting has been on the money too and won’t be far away.
Viktor Hovland is another player to mention and back in Europe he can shine and compete on the final day of the tournament as is well suited to the type of conditions that will be present this week. Also a winner recently on the PGA Tour, Hovland can be in contention here.
