The 3rd major of the Golf Calendar takes place this week and the Los Angeles Country Club will be host to entertaining the best Golfers in the world. One major note is that the Golfers will have very little prior knowledge of this course making it an intriguing betting heat.
Therefore this years US Open is expected to be a tough one for all the players and low scoring isn’t likely to be the way this Tournament is going to play. Tough courses mean it’s most likely to be the best in the world that are able to adapt their game and perform great short game accuracy, along with expert putting when it matters most.
Matt Fitzpatrick will aim to defend his title at 35/1 with BetVictor and he is quite capable of being in the mix at the business end of the Tournament having run into some decent form coming into this major.
Unsurprisingly its Scottie Scheffler 6/1 Bet365 at the top of the betting, who took a week off after his third place finish in the Memorial Tournament, and his in excellent form. Prior to this 3rd place finish, Scheffler was 3rd in Charles Schwab challenge, then 2nd in PGA Championship. If you are looking at any Golfer to be able to cope with this type of course, it’s Scheffler.
John Rahm, Masters winner is 10/1 with Betfred. He comes into this Tournament fresher than most and this could be a huge factor come the final round of the event.
Brooks Koepka, 11/1 with Bet365, is another player who is highly likely to be involved at the later stages of the tournament, given his super strong Major form, which includes the PGA Championship win a few months ago, performing so well in the final round to fend off all the late challengers.
A notable mention to Victor Hovland, who won the Memorial Tournament two weeks ago, after a super final round and a play-off win. Hovland is another big tournament player, oozes class and consistency and at 18/1 with BetVictor is another to watch and see how he performs in the opening two rounds, as if he is within striking distance, the young talent can strike late.
Scottie Scheffler | 7/1 with Bet365 |
John Rahm | 11/1 with BetVictor |
Brooks Koepka | 11/1 with Bet365 |
Rory Mcllroy | 12/1 with BetWay |
Patrick Cantley | 18/1 BetVictor |
Viktor Hovland | 18/1 BetWay |
Looking at the best each-way odds in the market, we have 1/5 the odds 12 places with Betfair & Coral, 15 the odds 10 places with Ladbrokes, 1/5 the odds 8 places generally with Paddy Power, William Hill, SkyBet & Boylesports
Our main pick is Scottie Scheffler. Given his superb performances this year, he is always in the top 10 when it matters and his last few tournaments, Scheffler comes good when it’s moving day and after a few 2nd and 3rd place finishes, now is the time for Scheffler to strike and with the consistency he is showing, it’s surprising we are seeing 7/1 and not a few points shorter.
Our 2nd pick is PGA Tour Championship Winner Brooks Koepka. Off the back of the PGA Championship Major win, Koepka can follow up with another big win this week. These tough courses can suit the most experienced as 4 tough rounds of Golf will test the mind as well as the body, thus the best will rise to the top and Koepka can be the one to shine.
